Title of position: Cook (NOC 6322)

Job duties
o Work with minimal supervision within a team in a busy restaurant
o Prepare and cook full course meals
o Prepare and cook individual dishes and foods
o Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
o Prepare and cook (using East Indian spices as required in the recipe) East Indian dishes from the menu as per customer order
o Inspect kitchen and food service areas
o Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies and equipment
o Order supplies and equipment
o Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food
o Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
o Work with specialized cooking equipment (ex. Deep fryer, Tandoor)
o Clean and properly maintain kitchen and work areas
o Organize and manage buffets and banquets
Terms of employment:
o Permanent position
o Work 40 hours per week (Weekends, Evenings, Days, Nights)
o Anticipated start date: As soon as possible
 Skills requirements:
o Education: secondary (high school) graduation certificate or equivalent
o Essential skills: reading text, writing, communication, working with others, decision making
o Work experience: 2 to 3 years of experience required
o Work setting: restaurant
o Work conditions and physical capabilities: standing for extended periods; work under pressure, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, fast-paced environment
o Personal suitability: reliability, dependability, client focus, initiative, organized, team player, flexibility, judgement
o Cuisine speciality: East Indian
o Food Preparation Specialization: Stocks, soup and sauces, Eggs and dairy, vegetables, fruits, nuts and mushrooms; meat; poultry; Fish; Seafood.
o Types of Meals/Food prepared: Lunches; Dinners; Banquets; Buffet

Wage: $16.00 to $22.00 per hour
