On Tuesday September 22, Twenty three professionals from various immigrant serving agencies took part in a training titled, “Easier than You Think”. The training was facilitated by Diana Wark from Calgary Sexual Health Centre. The purpose was to help service providers support parents as they discuss healthy bodies and healthy relationships with their children.
Immigrant Services Calgary is a member of the Calgary Sexual Health Collaborative which includes agencies such as Alberta Health Services, Outlink, HIV Community Link and the Calgary Communities against Sexual Abuse (CCASA).
ISC has worked with the collaborative in organizing workshops for immigrant parents. Our goal is to support immigrant families in understanding the importance of sexual health and wellbeing as well as equip parents with the tools necessary to talk to their children about healthy relationships. Several of our Settlement Counselors took part in this training!
