The Calgary Stampede is an annual 10-day event held in July that includes a parade, First Nations exhibitions, amusement rides, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon races, rodeo, and much more. The event celebrates the romance and culture of the Old West which Calgary grew out of. Around the time of the Stampede, many local businesses and organizations get into the Stampede spirit by dressing up their storefronts with Stampede themed decorations. Another popular tradition during the Stampede is the hosting of pancake breakfasts throughout the city by local businesses, organizations, and the Stampede itself.
Speaking of food, the Calgary Stampede continues its annual tradition of serving some of the craziest food items at their Midway. Follow this link to see this year’s list: http://blog.calgarystampede.com/2015/04/30/2015s-new-midway-foods-are-waiting-for-you-the-midway-champion/
