Alberta Health Services (AHS) issued a heat advisory in Calgary effective until Thursday August 13, 2015 afternoon. This heat advisory means people should take precautions to protect themselves. According to AHS’s Heat Advisory Information, people are advised to reschedule outdoor activities, take frequent breaks from the heat in cooled buildings, stay hydrated, and apply a sunscreen of at least SPF 30, and not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and light-coloured long-sleeved shirts.
Furthermore, AHS said heat stroke to watch out for include high body temperature, lack of sweat, disorientation, fainting and unconsciousness.
