The Calgary Food Bank is a charitable, non-profit organization that gathers and distributes quality emergency food to low income Calgarians who are struggling to afford meals. If you are in need of a food hamper, there are a few easy steps to follow:
- Call the hamper request hotline: 403-253-2055 (the best time to call is between 3:30pm and 5:00pm, Monday to Thursday)
- Book a hamper
- Pick-up the hamper from their main warehouse (5000 11 Street SE) or at one of their other depots across Calgary
You will need to bring ID for you and your family members to pick up your food hamper. The food bank will also ask personal questions about your income and expenses, but your information will be kept confidential.
Eligible Calgarians can receive up to 7 hampers within a 12-month period. The first 3 hampers may be received through self-referral. The last 4 will require a referral from one of the Food Bank’s agency partners. There must also be 30 days between requests.
