Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a new pilot for newcomer women addressing their existing barriers for employment. Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Honourable Ahmed Hussen announced the 3-year Visible Minority Newcomer Women Pilot.
The primary goal of this pilot is to address the barriers newcomer women face when finding employment. Gender, race discrimination, low income employment, lack of affordable childcare and weak social supports are examples of the barriers newcomer women can face. IRCC will be providing funding for new, innovative programs and services that address these barriers. For more information, visit IRCC’s website.
