The new Calgary Green LRT Line project will be extending from communities north of 16 Avenue through the downtown core to Shepard in the southeast. The Construction of Stage 1 is estimated to create more than 12,000 direct jobs and 8,000 additional jobs in supporting industries such as engineering, planning and administration.

Through the provincial funding raised in the Climate Leadership Plan, the Green Line was made possible. City of Calgary estimates when Stage 1 is complete, the C02 emissions will be reduced by 30,000 tonnes every year.
