Calgary has been selected as a Welcoming Francophone Community as a part of Canada’s Action Plan for Official Languages. This initiative will have 14 communities across Canada that will receive funding so they can create programs and support to help French speaking newcomers feel welcomed and integrated into the Francophone minority communities. This initiative will seek to enhance the vitality of French-speaking permanent residents in francolphone minority communities, supporting the integration and retention of French-speaking newcomrs, and building the capacity of Francophone communities.
