Family Violence Resources during COVID-19

Michelle Mak COVID-19, Newcomer Information

It is important to remember there are many resources even during COVID-19 that are available for those who are experiencing family violence, elder abuse or child abuse.

If you are in immediate danger, police and RCMP will still respond even if you have COVID-19, are in self isolation, are in quarantine, or experiencing symptoms.

The Family Violence Info Line (310-1818) can assist with information on elder abuse shelters and community resources. They are also available 24/7 in over 170 languages.

“With the added stress and time together caused by a public health crisis like COVID-19, families with unhealthy relationships are more likely to experience child abuse.” If you suspect child abuse, please call 1-800-387-KIDS (5437) to report.
