Designated Shopping Time for Seniors during COVID-19

Lisa Cai Community, COVID-19, Daily Life, Newcomer Information, Seniors

Since late March, many grocery stores in Calgary have started to open their doors early or reserve shopping hours for seniors and those who require extra attention, so that they can shop with fewer customers around during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have put together a list of Calgary-based grocery and drug stores that provide dedicated shopping hours for seniors and other vulnerable groups:

What else can you do to help during this special time?

– Respect reserved time for seniors and avoid shopping during those hours if you are not a senior or one of those who require extra attention.

– Try to limit your grocery store visits to once a week if possible and allow only one person in the household to do the shopping.

– Keep at least 6 feet or 1.8 meters (about the length of a hockey stick) from other shoppers (seniors or not) in grocery stores.
