Calgary City Council has recently voted to pass the Prohibited Business Bylaw No. 20M2020. This bylaw bans the practice and promotion of conversion therapy.

What is Conversion Therapy? Conversion therapy is dangerous, harmful and unscientific. People who practice conversion therapy claim that it can change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression, but there’s NO evidence proving that’s true.

We are very proud that Calgary has become the 7th city in Alberta to have passed such a bylaw. All Calgarians are protected under new regulations, regardless of their gender and sexual orientations.

Offending the new Prohibited Business Bylaw will lead to a $10,000 fine. If you know or suspect anyone or any businesses advertise or offer conversion therapy services in Calgary, please report them by calling 311.
