The annual Mayor’s Environment Expo is held in conjunction with National Environment Week with the goal to empower and educate Calgary’s youth to practice and promote environmental actions, shaping a healthier and greener city for tomorrow. The City of Calgary has created a number of pre-recorded workshops available online for children of all ages to join. There are over 10 videos for children who are in Elementary, Junior High and Senior High.

You can participate in this year’s expo by watching the pre-recorded workshops with your children and encouraging them to promote environmental actions!

An example of a workshop is:

Worms Love Leftovers! (Grades 1-3)
Worms Love Leftovers gives children a peek into the amazing world of worms and how they help recycle organic waste, turning it into healthy living soil. Students will learn about the needs of worms, what they can eat and how to care for them. Hands-on activities will be available for students to enjoy at home.

Along with the video, there are also activity sheets to supplement the lesson!
