Older adults are everywhere in our lives. They can be our parents and grandparents, teachers and neighbors, mentors and friends, etc. As a vital part of our communities, they make a difference in our lives.

It is important that we continue to celebrate the Seniors’ Week during these challenging times. Live events are not being held this year, but we can still find other creative new ways to connect with one another and support seniors around us while observing social distancing. Here are a few tips:

– Keep connected and support seniors online or by phone calls.

– Offer assistance to seniors, e.g. help a senior neighbor pick up groceries or prescriptions.

– Share seniors’ stories or hold online events related to the Seniors’ Week.

The government of Alberta has made an online event calendar. You can also check out the Seniors’ Week Tipsheet:
