Stage 2 Guidelines for Child Care Centre

Lisa Cai Community, Daily Life, Settlement & Community News, Updates

As Alberta enters Stage 2 of Reopening, some parents and families are gradually returning to work. This means that they are sending children back to child care centres.

Day care centres and out of school programs must continue to take steps necessary to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

If you are going back to work and sending your children back to a day care centre, please pay close attention to see whether the day care centre your children attends is following these guidelines:

  • Child care programs can now operate only in cohorts of 30, including both staff and children;
  • Staff, parents, and children must not attend the program if they are sick, feeling unwell, or even having any mild symptoms, such as, fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headache, etc.;
  • Any program connected to a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 will be required to close for a minimum of 72 hours.
