The Calgary Public Library has recently announced that these three libraries below will reopen starting Tuesday, June 30:

  • Central: 800 3 St SE
  • Giuffre Family: 3223 14 St SW
  • Signal Hill: 5994 Signal Hill Centre SW

According to the library’s reopening plan, Forest Lawn, Crowfoot and Fish creek libraries were the first three locations to reopen since Tuesday, June 23. Additional measures are put in place to ensure the health and safety of library visitors, staff and volunteers.

Following a successful pilot, the Library will continue to reopen more locations weekly until all locations are open.

Word of the Day:

  • Pilot: you probably already know “pilot” as a person that flies an airplane.

  • Pilot” in this article is different. Here it refers to a project that is used to test out an idea before we decide whether to introduce it on a larger scale.

  • The Calgary Public Library is trying out the reopening measures in some but not all community libraries to test if this is a good idea before reopening all the library locations.
