Tomorrow’s Chinatown is a project aiming at creating the first cultural plan and a new local area plan (LAP) for Calgary Chinatown. The plans will support Chinatown’s future as a vibrant and culturally-rich place to live, visit, work, and do business.
Chinatown is one of Calgary’s most unique and long-standing cultural communities. In the coming months, Chinatown and the City of Calgary will be researching and conducting public engagement activities. The input gathered from these activities is to be applied to the project.
Tomorrow’s Chinatown has 3 phases:
- Discover: Conduct surveys and gather Chinatown’s values, strengths, and weaknesses from the public. Right now we are at this phase.
- Create: Meet with community members and set important goals for Chinatown’s future.
- Realize: Together with the community, put the new ideas into the cultural plan and the local area plan.
