Canada-U.S. Border Closure Extended Again until August 21

Lisa Cai Newcomer Information, Settlement & Community News, Updates

The Canada-U.S. border has been closed for all non-essential travel since March 21, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In April, May and June, the restriction was extended for three times.

As the fight against COVID-19 continues, the two countries have recently agreed to extend the current border measures once again to keep people in both countries safe.

The Canada-U.S. border will remain closed to all non-essential travel until August 21, 2020.

Examples of non-essential (optional) travel include tourism, recreation and entertainment. If you are healthy and must cross the border for work or other essential purposes, you may continue to do so, but before you travel, please get in touch with the Border Information Service for the latest COVID-19 updates.
