ABTraceTogether to Switch to National Tracing App

Lisa C. Updates

If you have been following the updates on our website and the news about COVID-19, you should be familiar with the two mobile contact tracing apps available to residents of Alberta.

One is called ABTraceTogether — Alberta’s own tracing app that came out earlier in May:

Then in August, the Canadian government released a new national tracing app called COVID Alert:

ABTraceTogether will be switching over to COVID Alert. The timeline is unclear. Stay tuned for more updates!

For the time being, Ontario is the first province where people can use COVID Alert to report a COVID-19 diagnosis. Even you live outside Ontario, it’s still helpful to download this app. That way, later when people in your area are able to report a diagnosis, you’ll be notified if you have been near them.
