Visa application centres (VACs) are private companies that have formal contracts with the Government of Canada. They:
- are located around the world and speak local languages
- accept applications for study permits, work permits, visitor visas and travel documents for permanent residents.
- securely send your applications and passport to the visa office
- are official locations to give your biometrics (fingerprints and a photo)
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most Visa Application Centres (VACs) have temporarily closed or are operating with limited hours and services.
Some VACs are reopening and beginning to offer some services. Check your VAC’s website to know what services they offer.
