COVID Testing FAQs for Albertans Planning to Travel

Lisa C. COVID-19, Settlement & Community News

If you reside in Alberta, are currently planning to travel, and need COVID-19 testing and reporting services, you may find these FAQs helpful:

How to book a COVID-19 test?

All Albertans, including travelers, can access asymptomatic testing through AHS or by visiting a participating pharmacy.

How long does do I need to wait to be tested? How long does it take to receive the results?

Albertans planning travel should allow at least 7 days from the time they are swabbed for COVID-19 to having access to printable test results.

How do I get my printed results?

Through one of these means:

  • MyHealth Records account – the fastest way to access your COVID-19 test results;
  • Ask your family physician or primary healthcare provider;
  • Alberta Precision Labs (APL): there’s a $25 charge for this option.
What does my airline require me to provide for traveling during COVID-19?

You need to contact your airline company to find out about the requirements. Alberta Health Services (AHS) has prepared a printable letter to airlines or travel partners to explain your COVID-19 testing results.

Can the test results be sent directly to my airline or travel agent?

No. Results will be emailed only to the traveler requesting the results or the requestor’s dependents.

I am traveling and require a printed confirmation of my test results. Who do I contact?

Please call 403-770-3959, 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Monday-Friday, or 403-770-3600 on evenings or weekends. You can also email your inquiry to aplcit@albertaprecisionlabs.ca.
