September 29 is World Heart Day! World Heart Day informs people around the world about Cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke. These diseases are the world’s leading cause of death claiming, 17.9 million lives each year. World Health Day helps highlight the actions that individuals can take to prevent and control CVD.

World Heart Day is a global campaign where everyone and their families, communities, and governments around the world participate in activities to take charge of their heart health and that of others. Through this campaign, the World Heart Federation hopes to unite people from all countries and backgrounds to fight against the cardiovascular diseases and inspire and drive international action to encourage heart-healthy living across the world.

Some activities you can do to take charge of your heart health include:

  • at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity 5 times a week
  • Playing, walking, housework, dancing!
  • Be more active every day – take the stairs, walk or cycle instead of driving
  • Stay fit at home with an exercise app
