Did you know you can become a FluWatcher? The FluWatchers program is an important part of Canada’s national flu surveillance program, FluWatch. FluWatch is a program that will send those interested, an email every week asking if you had a cough or a fever in the previous week. Depending on your answers, there may be more questions. The questions take about 15 seconds to complete and all the answers are anonymous.

Once you sign up, you’ll receive an email every week asking if you had a cough or fever in the previous week. Depending on your answers, there may be a few more questions.

Previously, tracking diseases was easier because it required a person to go see a doctor and get tested. However, nowadays, not everyone who feels sick will go and see a doctor. The FluWatch program aims to capture this information in order to get a greater sense of the illness levels in the community. Traditionally, this program only tracked the flu, but during COVID-19 pandemic, it is also tracking COVID-19.

Anyone can become a FluWatcher! Invite everyone to join. For more information, please visit https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/flu-influenza/fluwatcher.html
