COVID-19 Testing Priority Changed

Lisa C. COVID-19, Updates

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is currently offering appointment-only COVID-19 testing.

Effective Tuesday, October 21, COVID-19 testing is offered only to Albertans in the following listed groups:
  • Albertans with symptoms of COVID-19
  • Albertans who are close contacts of a confirmed case, whether symptomatic or not
  • Albertans who are linked to a known outbreak, whether symptomatic or not

If you do not belong to the groups listed above, you will not be able to book new appointments for asymptomatic testing in Alberta at this time. Already booked appointments will be honoured until Nov. 4.

“…,we are pausing asymptomatic testing in those with no known exposure. This is necessary to reduce wait times, get results to Albertans & limit spread.”

Dr. Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, mentioned in her COVID-19 update on October 20.

If you are feeling unwell, please stay home & complete the COVID-19 online self-assessment for testing here: https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/topics/Page16944.aspx.
