Michelle Mak Newcomer Information, Updates

The Government of Canada announced on October 20, 2020 that they will be taking action against online hate and preventing the promotion of racism and violence. To do so, they will be supporting the YWCA for their project – Block Hate: Building Resilience against Online Hate Speech.

This will be a 4 year project that aims to examine hate speech trends across Canada and also work with experts to develop online tools and digital literacy training for young Canadians aged 14-30 across 10 communities.

The goal of this project is “to strengthen the way people respond to online hate speech and create safer online spaces for young Canadians impacted by hate speech by providing best practices on how to respond.”
