In Dr. Deena Hinshaw (Chief Medical Officer of Health)’s update yesterday October 30, she mentioned that there will be a new symptoms list for Albertans under 18 on Monday November 2:

Runny nose and sore throat will be removed from children’s list of mandatory isolation symptoms. *This change is only for those with no known exposure.

If a child has had close contact with a COVID case in the last 14 days, a runny nose or sore throat is enough to recommend testing, and the child would need to continue to stay home in isolation.
