National Senior Safety Week

Michelle Mak Newcomer Information, Seniors Leave a Comment

National Senior Safety Week runs from November 6 – November 12. This campaign aims to spread the necessary information to enhance the safety of everyday living of seniors.

There are many ways for us to ensure seniors are safe, especially this year due to the pandemic. Some simple ways you can help a senior is by:

  • Clearing an older Albertan’s walkway of snow and ice.
  • Call a senior to ask how they are doing and see if they need a hand with tasks that might put them at risk.

Seniors in Alberta have access to a range of supports that includes both financial assistance and health benefits to help them remain safe and independent as they age in their chosen community. To learn more about these resources, speak to one of our Newcomer Planners here: https://settlementcalgary.com/isc-welcome/
