The Consumer Debt Negotiation Project is a project that aims to help Albertans facing debt by offering free legal advice. This project is done by the University of Calgary law school students who are volunteering their time to help those in need. The clinic is also collaborating with Pro Bono Law Alberta’s ongoing duty counsel and amicus programs as well as Calgary Legal Guidance’s summary advice clinics to help prospective clients get the help they need.
This project will assist debtors, including those in foreclosure, to engage creditors or their counsel to work out arrangements that help both parties to deal with the outstanding debt.
