Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau announced that a COVID-19 vaccine will be available in Canada in December. The initial doses of vaccines (around 249,000 doses) are prioritized for long term care home residents and the staffers working there. The vaccine requires two doses, in which they will be administered weeks apart.

Provinces who will first receive the doses will be Alberta, Manitoba Ontario and Quebec. “The vaccines will be distributed to jurisdictions on a per-capita basis, meaning each province and territory will receive vaccine doses in numbers proportionate to their share of the population.”

More details to come to describe the plan that the Government of Canada will be taking to distribute the vaccines.
