Money Smart Program

Michelle Mak Community, Daily Life, Finance, Newcomer Information

Need some tips on how to save money? Or are you struggling on understanding the Canadian financial system? The Immigrant Education Society has programs and services that are available for you!

Money Smart offers help in 4 different ways:

1. Financial Coaching
Financial Coaching offers one-on-one support for anything related to your finances. Meet with an expert who can answer your questions and help you make the right financial decisions.

2. RESP Sign-Up
You can help your children build a successful future in Canada by opening an RESP account! A Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) helps pay for your children’s education.

3. Tax Clinics
In Canada, you pay taxes on the income that you earn. Every year, your taxes must be filed to the Canadian government. If you struggle to file your taxes, we offer free Tax Clinics to guide you through the process. (Must be low-income to be eligible.)

4. Financial Literacy Education
Curious about other financial topics? Join in on workshops and special events covering financial services in Canada, the banking system, mortgages, budgeting, credit and more.

This program is available for free to those who are:

  • Permanent Residents, Canadian Citizens and Refugees
  • Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 3+ recommended
