What to Pay Attention to When Shoveling Snow

The physical activity of shoveling snow can be demanding. Pay attention to the following to protect your health and safety when shoveling snow:

  • Warm up. Consider snow shoveling as a workout. Stretch out for 5-10 minutes before heading out.
  • Dress properly in thin and breathable layers and remember to wear gloves or mittens
  • Don’t shovel right after a meal to avoid strain on your heard during physical activity.
Consult your doctor if you
  • are a senior
  • are overweight and/or
  • have a history of heart disease in the family
