Alberta Enters Step 1 to Ease COVID-19 Restrictions

Lisa C. Community, COVID-19, Settlement & Community News, Updates

Restriction changes to outdoor gatherings, funerals and personal services came into effect earlier in January. The Alberta government is very careful not to lift COVID-19 restrictions too quickly.

Today (February 8), Step 1 restriction changes are officially effective. For Step 1, the benchmark to ease restrictions is 600 hospitalizations and declining.

The following changes to Business and service restrictions are effective February 8:
  • Restaurants can open for in-person dining
  • Children and youth can participate in limited school and team sport activities
  • One-on-one indoor fitness training is permitted, by appointment only
All other restrictions remain in place.

A Path Forward is a roadmap to help Albertans understand how restrictions will be eased in steps over the coming months. Check out the details here: https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx#PathForward
