The Critical Worker Benefit is a one-time $1,200 cash payment recognizing Albertans working to provide critical services during the pandemic:

This is a joint federal-provincial program of $465 million that will go to approximately 380,000 Alberta public and private sector workers.

  • Public sector employees do not need to apply. Employers will automatically receive the payment and distribute it to their eligible employees.
  • Private sector employers can apply on behalf of eligible employees between February 17 and March 19, 2021.
