The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has recently announced new public transit investments across Canada to
- build strong communities
- fight climate change
- create new jobs
The investments of $14.9 billion for public transit projects over the next 8 years include permanent funding of $3 billion per year for Canadian communities beginning in 2026-27. The investments announced will
- be used for subways extensions and other major projects in big cities;
- make sure people can access the services and help they need in small towns and rural, remote areas;
- reduce pollution by switching public transit systems to cleaner electrical power;
- create new jobs by building major public transit projects.
