The Canadian government has recently introduced new legislation with stronger measures to combat gun violence. Some measures proposed include:

  • Creating “Red flag” and “yellow flag” laws to combat intimate partner and gender-based violence involving firearms.
  • Increasing penalties for gun smuggling and trafficking.
  • Creating new offences for altering firearms.
  • Providing funding for youth programs to help young people avoid criminal activities.
