April 7 is World Health Day.
  • The inception of World Health Day was in 1948 and it took effect 2 years later.
  • The yearly celebration aims to create awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization.

Since 2020, the COVID-19 has pushed more people into food insecurity and poverty, and amplified gender, social and health inequities.

Health inequities are systematic differences in the health status of different population groups. How healthy you are is influenced by many social factors, including your

  • Education level
  • Employment status
  • Income level
  • Gender
  • Ethnicity, etc.

In the year 2021, the theme of World Health Day is

Building a fairer, healthier world for everyone.

This World Health Day, the World Health Organization is calling for action to eliminate health inequities, bring people together and build a healthier world.
