The City of Calgary has recently announced to allocate $80 million towards the Arts Commons Transformation (ACT) project through its Greater Downtown Plan. This new funding is made possible thanks to a federal contribution under the Canada Community-Building Fund.

The Greater Downtown Plan is the City’s vision and roadmap for building a thriving and future-focused downtown, of which Arts Commons—the city’s premier arts centre—is a key component.

The project’s pre-design phase, including team procurement and public and stakeholder engagement on the design of a renewed Arts Commons is now underway. CMLC and Arts Commons expect to announce the full ACT project team this summer.

The public is invited to take part in the ACT public engagement survey, open until the end of May, by visiting the ACT Engagement page.

Word of the Day:

Premier: top, principal, most important
