The Temporary Rent Assistance Benefit opens for applications on May 1, 2021. Eligible tenants will get support with their rent while they stabilize or improve their financial situation.
Households in Alberta’s seven major cities may be eligible if they are below the local income thresholds, are currently employed or have been employed in the last 24 months and are not receiving social assistance.
This new benefit complements the Rent Assistance Benefit, which provides stable, long-term support for Albertans with the lowest incomes across the province. That benefit reopened on April 1.
Applicants interested in either benefit should contact their local housing operator for details on how to apply.
