At the beginning of October, a secure QR code was added to your COVID-19 vaccination record.
On October 12, the Alberta government officially announced that businesses and organizations that are implementing the Restrictions Exemption Program can now download the AB Covid Records Verifier app to scan vaccination records.
AB Covid Records Verifier is the only app approved to scan Alberta vaccine QR codes.
- When a valid QR code is scanned, a green check mark will verify the proof of vaccination, and display the person’s name and date of birth.
- The app does not store any personal information.
- The QR code contains a secure digital signature that verifies it was provided by Alberta Health and is extremely hard to forge.
As of November 15, Alberta vaccine records with QR code will be the only valid proof of vaccination accepted by operators participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program
