Newcomers continue to land in Canada and become Permanent Residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Service Canada Centre gradually opened up since Spring 2021 for in person services.
As of Fall 2021, Newcomers can still get their Social Insurance Numbers in three different ways:
- Online: https://sin-nas.canada.ca/en/Sin/
- By mail: prepare required documents, complete the application form and mail everything and mail it to Service Canada, Social Insurance Registration Office, PO Box 7000, Bathurst NB E2A 4T1, Canada
- In person: https://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/tbsc-fsco/sc-hme.jsp?lang=eng
You are still encouraged not to visit Service Canada Centres unless absolutely necessary. And note that walk-in service is offered when capacity allows.
To save time, please use the eServiceCanada service request form to request help with getting a Social Insurance Numbers (SIN). You will hear back from them within 2 business days. You will be given an in-person appointment when you hear back, if you request cannot be completed on the phone.
