Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada is working on modernizing Canada’s immigration system to
- support economic recovery
- improve client service.
Highlights of progress include but are not limited to the following areas:
Permanent Residence (PR)
- online PR applications, including PR card renewals
- easier access to status updates on some family class (FC) applications
- processing FC and Canadian Experience Class applications within service standards
Temporary Residence
- prioritizing study and work permit processing
- using advanced data analytics tools to support processing
- reducing application inventories that grew during the pandemic, including visitor visas
Citizenship
- online citizenship applications
- online tracker provides updates on citizenship application status and next steps
- expanding use of online citizenship tests and video oath ceremonies
