February is Black History Month

Nicole H. Community, Fun Facts

During Black History Month, we honour the legacy of our fellow people of African, African American and Caribbean heritage and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities. The 2022 theme for Black History Month is: “February and Forever: Celebrating Black History today and every day”.

Everyone is invited to participate in these events and learn more about Black communities, and how they continue to shape Canada.

There are a number of exciting events organized in Alberta, happening both virtually and in-person, that you can attend. You can use the Black History Month – Events search to learn more.

You can also tune into the nationwide Black History Month virtual celebration at 7 pm (ET), February 17, 2022 via Facebook Live. This live virtual event will feature performances, tributes, interviews and much more!
