Fun Indoors Activities for Families in Calgary

We find ourselves in the middle of Winter once again! With temperatures dropping into negative double digits, the kids are stuck at home and starting to jump off the walls. What can you do?

If you’re not quite ready to head outside for cold weather activities in the snow, Calgary offers many indoor activities for families with children and youth. This Winter is the perfect time to explore them!

  • Indoor playgrounds – Popular with families, indoor playgrounds offer large spaces for kids and youth to use up their high levels of energy, all at an affordable cost. Some of the larger indoor playgrounds in Calgary include Sky Castle or Big Box.
  • Museums – Museums are a great option if you want your children to also learn while having fun! Some unique museums in Calgary include sitting in historical planes at the Hangar Flight Museum, engaging in Canada’s history at the Military Museum, and experiencing unique sights and sounds at the Studio Bell Music Centre.
  • Recreation Centres – The City of Calgary offers many recreational facilities that include skating rinks, swimming pools, running tracks, basketball courts, and more, at affordable rates! Some centre worth noting include the world’s largest YMCA at Rocky Ridge, a large wave pool at Village Square Leisure Centre and inclusive swim and fitness programs at Vecova.

No matter where your family decides to spend these Winter days, sharing new experiences and building new memories with family is already half the fun!
