Mask Mandate in Alberta Still in Effect for High-Risk Settings

Lisa C. Community, COVID-19, Updates

As part of the 3-step easing measures, the provincial mask mandate has been lifted since March 1, 2022.

Masks are still required in high-risk settings, including:

  • on municipal and intra-provincial public transit for Albertans 13+
  • at all AHS operated and contracted facilities
  • at all continuing care settings

Vaccinated individuals must mask for up to five days following mandatory isolation due to COVID infection.

People at risk of severe outcomes should wear medical masks when in settings with people outside of their household.

Albertans may choose to continue wearing masks in public indoor settings. These masks should fit well and be of high quality: https://www.alberta.ca/covid-19-public-health-actions.aspx
