The Canadian passport holds immense significance as a powerful travel document globally, symbolizing connection, exploration, and the culmination of an immigration journey towards Canadian citizenship. Today, the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, and the Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, proudly introduce the newly redesigned Canadian passport. This comprehensive transformation encompasses state-of-the-art security features and captivating artwork, ensuring its continued status as a secure and universally accepted travel companion for all Canadians.
The new Canadian passport incorporates cutting-edge security measures aimed at safeguarding Canadians’ identities. A polycarbonate data page, akin to the technology employed in Canada’s driver’s licenses, replaces traditional ink printing, resulting in a more durable and tamper-resistant data page. Laser engraving is employed for personal information, further enhancing security against counterfeiting and tampering. Additional features include a dynamic Kinegram over the primary photo, a customized see-through window with a secondary image of the passport holder, a variable laser image, and temperature-sensitive ink.
