April 23 to April 27, 2018 is Alberta Career Week. There are many career events across the province during this week to help Albertans with employment and career options, and exploring training and education programs. Immigrant Services Calgary’s Employment Bridging Program has also organized two workshops.
Government of Canada brings medical inadmissibility policy in line with inclusivity for persons with disabilities – IRCC
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced changes to the policy on medical inadmissibly policy. “The new policy on medical inadmissibility strikes a balance between protecting publicly funded health and social services and updating the policy to bring it in line with current views on the inclusion of persons with disabilities. “
YIP Tales From Around the Globe
The Youth Inclusive Program at Immigrant Services Calgary presents Tales from Around the Globe Community Fair!
Every newcomer youth has a story. Tell your story through film, music, dance, or writing! We are looking for immigration stories that match our theme of ‘A Colourful Life: Diversity in Canada’. Immigrant Services Calgary is giving away two $500 scholarships to youth who are willing to share their stories at the Tale from Around the Globe Community Fair on March 17, 2018.
TAX PREPARATION CLINIC 2018
Immigrant Services Calgary is offering free volunteer-led tax preparation clinics. Our Canada Revenue Agency community tax volunteers will complete simple tax returns for low income immigrants and convention refugees. Canadian citizens and permanent residents will soon be able to take the first step in applying to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada, when the Parents and Grandparents Program reopens in 2018.
IRCC expands its presence in China through new VACs
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is expanding its Visa Application Centre (VAC) Network in China, increasing its geographic reach as Canada looks for new ways to support the growth in applications. So far this year, more than 500,000 applications have been received from China, a 15 per cent increase from 2016.
