Position Summary
Reporting to the Custodial Services Supervisor, the Custodial Worker performs a variety of custodial duties and minor maintenance repairs necessary to keep the all the companies’s facilities in a clean and orderly condition which contributes to the efficient daily operations.

Time Commitment
40 hours per rotation with 5 days on and 2 days off. Some unusual hours may be required from time to time as the need arises. Schedule may be altered at the discretion of management.

Job Duties
Ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices, furnishings and equipment as well as building entrances and exterior walkways by performing custodial duties as requested which may include, but not be limited to: clean, sweep and mop, wash windows, interior walls and ceilings, empty trash cans and other waste containers, clean and disinfect washrooms and fixtures, etc.

May be required to perform preventative maintenance duties on a scheduled basis and/or as the situation dictates

Collaboration with team in coming up with new and innovative ways to perform tasks

Willing and able to learn new skills as well as teach others any skills in which they have experience in

Commit to quality workmanship

Active participation in the “Deficiency a Day” program

Dedication to becoming and remaining an industry leader in the custodial area.

Respond to custodial ticket requests as well as tracking and reporting of weekly activity and results to the Supervisor, Custodial Services

Participate in project cleaning

• Be able to identify deficiencies and report these to Supervisor, Custodial Services

Ensure that security and safety measures are in place in all of the DI properties

• Will be required to participate in the “on call” schedule for all Company’s buildings

• Provide continuity of custodial services under emergency conditions or unique circumstances by performing these duties directly related to the emergency conditions or as the situation dictates

Ensure health and safety regulations and quality standards are followed while performing duties

Assist with checking inventories and cleaning supplies

Inform Supervisor if cleaning products are not effective and provide suggestions on effective cleaning materials

Perform other related duties that are approved by direct supervisor and Directors

Required Competencies
At least two (2) years of cleaning and preventative maintenance experience

Adequate verbal and written communication and outstanding interpersonal skills

Must be able to work well as a team member of the maintenance department and/or be comfortable working alone

Ownership mentality

Time management skills • Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely, up to 50 lbs

Demonstrate initiative with a proactive and flexible attitude

• Ability to multitask

• A clean, valid driver’s license (must be at least 25 years of age to meet insurance qualifications) would be a definite asset

• Previous work experience in the human services field is an asset

Energetic and self-directed, with effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to deal with several priorities at the same time

Strong strategically focused analytical skills, good common sense; and capacity to provide leadership

Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiating skills

• High morals, ethics and integrity

Proficient in Office365 and Microsoft Office Suite 2016

Demonstrate essential desktop troubleshooting skills

Eager to learn new systems and adopt improved best practices Must demonstrate initiative and work autonomously

Must be acceptable of industry risks, including coming into contact with bodily fluids

While your position does not normally consist of front-line work, it is important for us to tell you that front-line staff are exposed to emotionally disturbing events, such as: medical distress, threatened/actual serious injury, violence, abuse, and death; where clients may be experiencing fear, terror, hopelessness, rage, self-harm and conflict. It is understood and accepted that you will be working in distress and/or high-stress situations, which may include emergency response where resiliency and stress tolerance and the ability to maintain composure, remain calm and focused is imperative. Exposure to bodily fluids may also occur.
