What we collect
We will identify the purpose before collecting your information. We will only collect personal information for purposes directly associated with our business activities and will be transparent in the intent for this information collection. We will explain reasons for collecting it. You may withdraw your consent to our use of personal information at any time.
When you use the Welcome to Alberta app, we will collect your email address and to-do list items when you create an account on the Welcome to Alberta app. The application does not collect any further personal data that directly identifies you such as your name or the information you access.
The app collects usage and crash reporting data so that we can understand how the app is used and how to make it better. In order to protect the privacy of our users, we do not collect specifics about how the app is used. If you send us feedback through the feedback form in the app, we will have access to the email address you used to send us feedback.
We use Google Analytics (Google Inc.) to help us collect and analyze usage data in the app and improve the quality of the app. The analytics services automatically collect certain information that does not personally identify our end users who access or use our mobile applications.
Please refer to the section ‘When you report a problem with one of our services’ for our policy about how your personal information will be used. Finally, we collect data on app crashes that helps us improve the stability and user experience of the application.
Data Sharing Practices
We do not share your information with any third parties without your consent. We require your knowledge and consent to collect, use and disclose your personal information. We only collect and use your personal information in permittance with the laws and policies of the City of Calgary, Government of Alberta and Government of Canada. We also reserve the right to collect, use, or disclose any information as needed to satisfy any law, regulation or legal responsibility in order to protect our legitimate organizational interests, fulfill your requests or cooperate with law enforcement investigations on matters of public safety.
Third party services
In addition, we are not responsible for the information collection, use, disclosure or security policies or practices of other organizations, such as Facebook, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Slack, MailChimp, Chimp, EventBrite or any other app developer, app provider, social media platform provider, operating system provider, wireless service provider or device manufacturer, including with respect to any personal information you disclose to other organizations through or in connection with our Social Media Channels.
Updates to this policy
This policy was updated in November 2019 and it replaces any previous policies we may have provided to you. We regularly review it and we can update it at any time, so it is a good idea to check it from time to time to see if anything has changed. If we make any significant changes to this policy or to how we use your personal data, we will contact you to let you know about the change and where appropriate ask for your consent.
